Yesterday June 3rd 2020, the Ugandan town of Namugongo in the North-East region of Kampala saw an unusual celebration of a national public holiday due to coronavirus restrictions. June 3rd every year is a national public holiday in Uganda. It is set aside to commemorate the 45 martyrs, both Catholic and Anglican who were killed on the orders of Kabaka Mwanga II, the then king of Buganda between January 31st 1885 and January 27th 1887. In details there were 23 Anglicans and 22 Catholics.

Buea Council Disinfects Schools in Municipality

The administrative troupe of the Buea Council has taken the coronavirus to schools in the Municipality. The exercise which took place on Saturday 6th June 2020 involved the disinfection of schools. The activity comes just a week since schools resumed throughout the national triangle for final year students and pupils in secondary and primary schools as well as universities. The measure is part of the council’s goal to limit the spread of the dangerous virus.

COVID -19 cases in the North West Region growing

The number of COVID-19 cases in the North West region of Cameroon has continued an upward ascend since the relaxation of anti-covid-19 measures in the country. According to the Regional delegate of Public health, on June 23rd, 2020 count, at least 409 coronavirus cases out of the over twelve thousand COVID-19 cases registered in the country were in the North West region. Out of this number in the North West, 86 have recovered and 45 have died, official sources have revealed.
