Chimamanda Ngozi A. Awarded “Best of the Best’ of Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction

The novel which explores the end of colonialism, ethnic allegiances, class, race and female empowerment was published in 2006. It is set in Nigeria during the Biafran War. It has received global approval since its publication. It was in 2013 in Newton that Half of a Yellow Sun was made into a film starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie.

On 14 Oct 2020, 81 Cameroonian failed asylum seekers arrived at the Douala international airport from Texas, USA. The deported Cameroonians were received at the Douala International airport by a joint team of the Police, Gendarmerie, officials from the ministries of External Relations, Public Health, Culture, and officials from the US Embassy.
