SONARA to be Reconstructed Within 12 months at FCFA 250 Billion.

May 31, 2020 marked the first anniversary of the fire that destroyed most of Cameroons National Refining Company (SONARA). Recalling the incident on CRTV, the Minister of Water and Energy (MINEE), Gaston Eloundou Essomba, revealed that the damage incurred in the fire outbreak will cost the country FCFA 250 Billion for complete repairs.

End To FCFA For West African States, France Has Endorsed

A Council of ministers held, Wednesday May 20th, 2020 in Paris during which France endorsed a bill confirming the end of CFA Francs for West Africa. The bill is said to have been adopted and the government spokeswoman Sibeth Ndiaye announced that the West African Monetary Union is “eagerly” waiting.

Cameroon Government to Raise 14 Automatic Toll Gates on Nation’s Roads

Cameroon Government has signed a contract for the construction of 14 electronic road toll gates in some pavements of the nation’s roads. This was done by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi together with Finance Minister, Louis Paul Mutaze in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe on May 8th, 2020.

AfDB Disburses XAF26 billion for the Interconnecting Logone Bridge between Cameroon to Chad

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank–AfDB have approved a grant of XAF26.2 billion for the construction of a bridge over the Logone River which will connect Yagoua in Cameroon to Bongor in Chad. This grants as stipulated in a report by the project management team to the Bank's Board, the funds will not only be used to co-finance the construction of the bridge but equally the connecting roads as well as the feasibility studies.
