 PM Exalted Seven People with International Recognition

On September 3rd 2019 in Yaounde, there was the opening ceremony of the fourth edition of National Artistic and Cultural Season Relaunch(RECAN) which was presided over by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, during which he decorated seven men and women with international recognition in the cultural domain.

As a form of respect, the PM pinned medals of ranks from Commander to Knight of National Order of Valor. These men with special distinction included: Gerald Essomba Many, actor and film icon; Dikongue Pipa, filmmaker; Edouard Elvis Bvouma, comedian; Quinta Ashu Eyong, actress; Alenne Menget, Djaili Amadou Amal, author and Jeanne Liliane Mani Mendouga, author. The PM urged them to stand out as an inspiration for the growing arts industry.

The PM spoke on the 1st day of the 20 days of the cultural exhibition, at the National Museum in Yaounde on instructions of the head of state. While acknowledging the role culture could play in the present and future Cameroon, the PM called on cultural men and women to promote vital values of peace, togetherness and tolerance with their artistic works.

Further, event is slated to run in all of Cameroon’s Divisional headquarters. And, it is an opportunity to celebrate achievements and to display Cameroon’s rich cultural diversity.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Arts and Culture, Bidoung Mkpatt said that the chairing of the event by the PM showed the high regard that the government has for artists.  He equally seized the opportunity and announced an upcoming action in the ministry during which artists challenges will be properly addressed. And better working conditions would hence be ensured.

Artist showcased their potentials during the caravan and on exhibition stands-which displayed the Cameroon arts, craft and culture in its riches and glory.
