For the past three days, shooting has characterized the atmosphere in Kumbo, North West Region of Cameroon following the return of their Fon, Sehm Mbinglo I.

Both the government forces and the separatist fighters are main occupants of some parts of the town as they patrol the nocks and crannies, shooting at will and sending inhabitants in hidings.

Local reports say one of the separatists’ commanders has vowed to disrupt activities around the palace in a bid to stop people from visiting the palace or holding any ceremonies to welcome the Fon.

The Fon who has been away for years now following the Anglophone crisis made an attempt to return some months ago but was abducted by a group of separatist fighters around Babungo, a village in the Ngoketunjia Division, North West Region. After his release, the Fon returned to his hideout without arriving the village.

Meantime, lockdown has been imposed strictly for people around Squares, the roundabout leading to the Nso Palace. This has crippled activities

Other rumors have it that the Fon has again left the village after his cold and life-threatening welcome.
