Ahmad’s Suspension Reduced to 2Years, Motsepe to take over as CAF’s Head

As stakeholders of the African Football Confederation - CAF go to the 43rd General Assembly, the suspension of its former president Ahmad Ahmad has been crop to 2 years and a new head is underway.

Report shows that at the end of the assembly meeting on today Friday March 12th, 2021 in Rabat capital city of Morocco, Patrice Motsepe whose opponents have stepped aside in his favor will officially become CAF’s President.

Mr. Motsepe is a Billionaire in South African. He had as three opponents, Jacques Anouma of Ivory Coast, Augustin Senghor of Senegal, and Ahmed Yahya of Mauritania. They all withdrew from the race to CAF’s helm, announcing their support for their SA counterpart, according to report.

Meantime, Ahmad Ahmad, CAF’s outgoing president who was suspended for five years has witnessed a limitation. The Court of Arbitration for Sport – CAS has reduced his suspension to 2 years. However, the former CAF leader will not be able to stand for a second term.

Also, Constant Omari, the interim manager, has not been allowed to run for a new term on the International Football Federation - FIFA Council as he is under investigation at the FIFA.

At Rabat

Before his suspension in 2020, Ahmad had been CAF president and FIFA vice president since 2017. His suspension proceeded from when he was found guilty of violating FIFA’s several Code of Ethics - FCE. His accusation included: abuse of office, distribution of gifts and misappropriations of funds during his rule.


It was on Monday that CAS announced that Ahmad Ahmad's five-year ban from football-related activities has been reduced to two years.
