The Mbandjock Council is found in the upper Sanaga Division and the Campinas council in Brazil is in the São Paulo State, part of the country's Southeast Region. The two municipalities will soon sign an agreement to speed up development actions in the council area.

The visit of the Brazilian ambassador to Cameroon, Los San Martin to Mbandjock which enabled her to get firsthand information about the economic potential of the locality was the focus on this partnership influenced by similarities in soil and climatic conditions of the two councils.

These similarities in climatic conditions and soil types favor the cultivation of sugarcane in both areas. The Brazilian Ambassador used the Mbandjock visit as an opportunity to appraise the economic potentials of the locality saying that the hope is that this project will be achieved.

Given that Brazil is the biggest producer and exporter of sugar in the world, with 10% of its production in Campinas, Mbandjock council Mayor, Mr. Bagdama Amati Rene Degaulle believes that project between the both municipalities will be beneficial to her council.

The visit was also an opportunity for the Brazilian to visit the banks of river Sanaga, the new town hall, and sugarcane plantations in Mbandjock-the focus of her visit.

The Cameroon Sugar company – SOSUCAM which was created in 1965 is located on the oxisols of the Sanaga river basin at Mbandjock.  Without any real consideration on soil degradation and erosion hazards, it consist of 8000 hectares of sugar cane in a rain fed farming system
