Friday 15 January 2021, a  day before the official opening of the CAF African Championship (CHAN), the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education with the framework of the National campaign of Civic Education and National Integration organized a  special caravan to sensitize the population on the adoption of civic and patriotic behaviour.   Dubbed "Operation " CHAN Citizenship and Patriotism without COVID 19", the objective of the caravan was to promote the values of peace, civism, solidarity, brotherhood and patriotism during the period of CHAN while inviting the population to  observe barrier measures against COVID 19 put in place by the government and WHO.

 Added to this objective is that sensitizing the population public morals, indecency, abuse and deviant behaviour of all sorts and abusive consumption of alcohol, promote cleanliness, and develop patriotism within the population.

Speaking during the launching of the caravan that took place at the esplanade of the Yaounde Omnisport Stadium the Minister of Youths and Civic Education Mounouna Fotsou said, the goal of the caravan was to make Cameroonian celebrate the CHAN with a sense of civic responsibility and respect of barriers measures against COVID 19.

After the launching of the caravan by the Minister Mounouna Fotsou,  the caravan drove  from Omnisport to Tsinga passing through Essos, Mvog-ada, Nkoldongo, Mvong-Mbi, Olezoa,, University of Yaounde I, Cradat, Bonamoussadi, Obili, Biyem'Assi, Etoug ebe , Cite Vert, Madagascar, with patriotic songs, in English, French, Pidgen English, Franc-anglais, Ewondo, Bulu, Nso and so on, messages calling on the population to respect barriers measures against COVID 19 was pass across. " Do not forget to wear your  face mask,  wash your hands and respect social distancing"  were the messages sent across.

 Denizens were also call upon to adopt responsible behaviour, avoid the abusive  consumption of alcohol and also stupefiants. Throughout the caravan, Community Mediators of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education could be seen distributing flyers in major neighborhoods as well as along the road.

The caravan graced by the presence of the Tara, the official mascot of CHAN drew a lot of attraction from the population as people of all works of life came out to see Tara dancing.

 It should be noted the caravan which will continue throughout the period of CHAN will target places of strong human concentration like stadiums, fan zones and other places of high affluence. Elsewhere the sensitization shall be accompanied by a media campaign through the traditional media and social networks.

 The regions hosting the CHAN  are also involved I the caravan and campaign.
