Though opened to public visitation since November 17th, 2020, it was but right that the state of Cameroon officially visits and open in the economic capital of Cameroon the largest mall in Central Africa.
Built on 40,000 m2 of which 18,000 m2 of commercial space, the mall is dedicated to entertainment, leisure and shopping. It has a look of a museum and an airport and hosts 160 shops, supermarkets, amusement parks, a multiplex cinema hall and 22 restaurants.
Officially opening the complex yesterday December 17th on behalf of the Head of State, Paul Biya, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute said it represents a milestone in Cameroon’s drive towards economic takeoff.
These were the PM’s words, “In 2016 the head of state President Paul Biya did say that we are going to attain the status of an emerging nation by 2035 and what we have seen here we are realizing that Cameroon is gradually getting to the status of an emerging nation, and its thanks to his public policies that he has put in place that we …are realizing.”
He equally said that it was thanks to the “vitality of the attractiveness of our economy and to the quality of the human resources we have in Cameroon” that some Cameroonians conceived this project and “brought in international partners and they have realized it and it’s a beautiful project.”
Every month, 300,000 visitors are expected to visit the visit the complex that was constructed at a cost of 122 million euros.
