In Yaoundé, Centre Region of Cameroon, the population of Ntui has expressed satisfaction over the newly constructed bridge over the River Sanaga which has not only linked the Centre and Adamawa regions but has equally reduced distance and transport expenditures.
The project financed by the Government of Cameroon and the French development agency has reduced the 832km distance to 664.5km facilitating movement between the two regions.
The project runs through the Batchenga-Ntui-Yoko-Tibati corridor and is estimated at CFA 12.36 billion francs.
From Yaoundé in the Centre region to Ngaoundere in the Adamawa region the distance was estimated at 832km to pass through Bertoua, Garoua-Boulai and Meiganga. Given the long distance, some people travel by sea and as such had to pay about 5000 FRS to cross by means of a ferry. So the bridge has reduced the distance to 664.5km from 832km as well the transport fair.
It will be inaugurated on December 18th, 2020 as the population sets to commence the effective use of the bridge. Though it was initially set for completion in February this year, financial constraints pushed it to this month, December.
