Business: MTN Group becomes most valuable African brand in the Brand Finance Africa 150 2020 Ranking

On an announcement today Thursday, the MTN Group has revealed that it is pleased to had been named the most valuable African brand in the Brand Finance Africa 150 2020 ranking.

It ascribes to the group a brand value (the net economic benefit that a brand owner would achieve by licensing the brand in the open market) worth US$3.3 billion.

 “Over the last year, Africa’s largest mobile operator has celebrated solid profits and impressive subscriber growth.” the Brand Finance said in its survey.

The Brand Finance in its survey assessed Covid-19 impact on the enterprise value of all brands in its survey while comparing it to their values on January 1st, 2020.

On its telecoms sector category, it said it was “minimal brand value loss or potential brand value growth”. It was from the important role mobile operators played in keeping people connected amid the Covid-19 global crisis.


It should be recalled that the MTN group was equally named in July by the Brand Finance as the most valuable South African brand due to its focus on improving the customer experience for subscribers.


The July recognition was also influenced by the group’s ability of uniting 19 000 employees around a shared belief that everyone deserves the benefits of life in modern connection.
