Cameroon: Hon. Nourane Foster Slams CRTV for Laxity in Disseminating information around the Controversial Phone Tax Law

“Who watches CRTV? These young people who represent the largest users of mobile phones are not informed. CRTV is like an ancestor. It’s old, it’s ugly, it’s out of fashion! It looks like an intruder amongst other channels,” the Honorable said on a live show on her official Facebook page.

Like many, the Member of Parliament -MP for the Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation - PCRN party, Hon. Nourane Foster has added her voice to the controversial phone tax law recently announced and which is due to take effect from today October 15th, 2020.

The Honorable on a live show on her official Facebook page criticized CRTV’s handling of information around the said law. To her, with the available funds and resources the national station is prone to upgrade but it is failed to upgrade to the desired standard for the android generation.

These were her words, “You are a national station. You ought to have the best devices, the best cameras and other things. The budget is there. Money is taken from everyone’s salary for CRTV.”

According to the official information, users of phones, gadgets will pay 33.05% tax value of the purchase prices of each mobile phones and tablets they own.
