Anglophone Cameroonians are somehow fading up with every attempt to see peace return to their regions. Every move that raises the people’s hope ends up futile. What could be the real problem? When will this end? These are some of the questions asked by the weary population that is trapped between this tussle.
As his own possible solution to the surging crisis, Roman Catholic Jesuit Priest Rev. Father Ludovic Lado thought fervent prayers could do the miracle for the desolate population. In an open letter, he thus promised to conduct a pilgrimage for peace in October 2020 if the ‘deadlock remains unbroken."
“I walk to share a little bit the condition of our brothers and sisters of the NO/SO, internally displaced or refugees, who have been living in precariousness for a little over four years,” a portion of the letter read.
Followin Crux reports, the Priest said he would walk from Bamenda in the North West Region, to Buea, in the South West Region, a trip that covers over 200 miles.
On Tuesday October 13th, 2020, Rev. Lado embarked on a journey of 250km which was to end in Yaounde, Political Capital of Cameroon but was arrested around Edea, Sanaga Maritime Division and detained in the Littoral Region.
According to reports, the Clergy was later taken by security forces to Yaounde where his fate remains unknown.
