Cameroon: PM Dion Ngute Inaugurates PAD’s New Nautical Vessels

Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute is in the economic capital Douala, Littoral Region of Cameroon where he chaired a ceremony to inaugurate some newly acquired naval vessels by the Douala Port Authority that will help boost the port’s activities.

A new vehicle named the Menchum Fall which is 7 m long and 2.5 m wide, for the transport of beacon technicians at the port of Douala, Bonaberi.

The ceremony was basically to commission the nautical equipments for naval activities in the Port. They were inaugurated this Tuesday, October 13th, 2020 by the PM, accompanied by a host of Ministers and other Government officials.

The equipments include;

-A new vehicle named the Menchum Fall which is 7 m long and 2.5 m wide, for the transport of beacon technicians at the port of Douala, Bonaberi. The vessel can accommodate 6 crew members for maintenance, physical and functional control of the buoys.

A dredging vessel named Lake Barombi Mbo mower ship with an overall length of 12.35 m, a width of 5.5 m and a propulsive power of 1x234HP at 2100t / m.

- The Dika Mpondo Akwa beacon, 32 m long and 8 m wide, equipped with a crane to lift more than 10 tons. It has been dedicated to the transport of buoys from the easement quay to the predefined positions in the current channel.

The dredging vessels of cost over CFAF5 billion are meant to improve the performance of the port, give it an advantage over other ports as well as make the port more attractive.
