Under the framework of ensuring inclusive and quality education within a COVID-19 resilient School Year, the Minister of Basic Education Prof. Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa together with stakeholders of the basic education sector met in Yaounde to discuss ways forward for the 2020/2021 academic year.

The officials planned strategizing on how pupils will follow lessons under the necessary barrier measures without facing difficulties.

While the country looks forward to schools resumption come October 5th, 2020, it is still sailing in the boat of the pandemic with increasing cases but a comparatively speedy recovery.

According to the Ministry’s statistics for last academic year, 500,000 candidates took part in examinations but they are expecting 6 million pupils this coming year. Thus, for a smooth school year they need at least 5000 classrooms to be able to maintain COVID-19 barrier measures.
