Cameroon Ministry of Finance commonly known by its French acronym as MINFI has invited 2186 pensioners to report to control agencies for justification of backdated received pays.

Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance, Yaouba Abdoulaye

The communique signed by Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance, Yaouba Abdoulaye, partly stated that pensioners who received backdated pays should report to salary and pension control agencies between Monday, September 14th and Friday, October 16th, 2020, for urgent matters concerning them.

Signed on September 10th, 2020, the communiqué states that these pensioners must come along with documents that prove they were actually granted the retirement pension, disability pension, and reversionary pension among others.

According to the ministry, the objective of this operation is to check some details concerning the backdated pays.

However from other official sources, the operation equally falls within the framework of the budget consolidation initiatives as some of these pays are suspected to have been received unduly.

However, the communication department of the Ministry has not provided any further information concerning the call. But some people believe that it is a means by the state to identify fictitious pensioners, the same way some civil servants were laid of payroll months ago.
