After the first support last month August, to the Cameroonian Makossa musician, Marthe Zambo which received so much criticism, Cameroon’s Ministry of Arts and Culture-MINAC has reportedly sent yet an undisclosed sum of financial assistance to the very ill Cameroonian legendary singer.

The news has been disclosed by the national bilingual newspaper, Cameroon Tribune.

Marthe Zambo has been sick since August 2019 and after then she started asking for help from well-wishers and the public. However her cry was only heard by the state a year later.

According to close sources the singer has been suffering from a severe form of diabetes.

Zambo is the star behind one of the most played and bestselling Cameroonian love song, “Avec toi”.

She is now following the treatment in a clinic where she goes and comes home because she needs to be in a quiet environment. Also because while in a hospital, she risks attracting too many people who will want to see or talk to her, a close source has revealed to the national newspaper.

The first offer from MINAC representative which was revealed to have been 200, 000 FCFA received criticism particularly because of the media coverage that followed it.

However on September 8th, 2020, the regional delegate of Arts and Culture Ministry, Dr. François Edimo on behalf of MINAC’s Minister Pierre Ismaël Bidoung Mkpatt visited the bedridden Makossa singer once more. Like before the amount was yet not revealed. But many believe that it should be better than before because beside health needs, she is lacking in feeding and accommodation.

It was at her home in the Ndogpassi district, in the Douala III, Littoral region that the government envoy provided yet the second phase of financial support.
