Cameroon: Female Student of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences Stabbed to Death in University of Yaounde II

The Rector of the University of Yaounde II, Prof. Adolph Minkoa on a release signed today, Thursday, July 2nd 2020 has indicated that a female student of his institution, Celestine Nga Akao was aggressed and stabbed by unidentified persons on the evening of Wednesday, July 1st, 2020.

According to the release, the incident took place around the students’ residential area in Soa, where the university is located at the outskirt of Yaounde, Soa Sub-division.


Celestine Nga Akoa was enrolled into Master program in private law at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences.

From the scene of the incident as she battled between life and death, she was immediately rushed to the Centre Medico-Social in the University campus but it was evidently late and she gave up the ghost.


The rector says security forces were immediately called to the scene and right now, investigations are ongoing. The Regional Divisional Judicial Police is reportedly taking the lead in the investigation to see that justice is served for Akoa’s death.


To the family of the victim, the Rector addressed his sincere condolences. He has however urged the students to be vigilant, avoid night outings and call the 1500,117 toll free number in case of suspicious acts.

Meantime, the deceased body has been laid in the Yaounde Central Hospital.
