Cameroon, Anglophone Crisis: Judiciary Proceedings Opened For Ngarbuh Massacres, Defense Lawyer Urge Victims To Show Up for Jutsice

The defense lawyer following up the court case of the Ngarbuh massacres of February 14th, 2020, North West Cameroon has revealed that the case is open. The case opened on Tuesday June 9th, 2020 as revealed by Barrister Tamnfu Richard, defending Lawyer of the Victims.

Ngarbuh Massacres

The case is opened at the Military Tribunal in the country’s Political city, Yaounde for preliminary inquiries before an Examining Magistrate as revealed by Barrister Richard.

According to Cameroon Info.Net, the Lawyers defending the victims say the three soldiers, Ex-Ambazonia Fighter and 17 Vigilante Group members have already been charged. “They are charged for committing the offences of violation of instructions assassination in group, arson and destruction of property in group,” the Barrister said.

Ngarbuh Killings of February 14th, 2020

The judiciary process follows President Paul Biya’s inquiry order of April 21st, 2020 which demanded that all those involved in the massive killing and looting of February 14th, in Ngarbuh be charged accordingly. The report came after the culprits were officially identified.

Mass burial of Ngarbuh Victims

While the trials continue, lawyer Richard has urged families of victims or victims of destroyed property to come up with their cases for examination. “Family relations of the deceased victims, be it ascendants or descendants, should be aware that hearing of their own side of the story is going on. Those whose houses or farms were burnt down in the operation should be aware,” he said.
