The Head of State, President Paul Biya has offered 170,000 face masks to the four Educational Ministries in Cameroon. This was revealed today, Tuesday June 9, 2020, through a press release signed by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji.
The offer, according to the release falls “within the framework of government’s response to strategies against the spread of COVID-19.”
The masks were handed over to representatives of the concerned ministries by Minister Atanga Nji in the Political Capital, Yaounde.
Each ministry received the masks as partitioned in the release. The Ministry of Higher Education; 130,000 masks, the Ministry of Secondary Education; 10,000 masks, the Ministry of Employment and Professional Training; 15,000 masks –5,000 for children and 10,000 for adults as specified, and the Ministry of Basic Education.
The release underlined that the face masks are “essentially destined for State and private Universities, higher institutions, of learning, high schools colleges, professional training institutes as well as well as primary schools.”
It has also specified that the gifts are in line with the Head of State’s prescription of the “obligatory wearing” of face masks in public during his last May 19th 2020 outing. The government has instructed that the compulsory wearing of face masks stands as the “first barrier measure against COVID-19.”
This is the second COVID-19 offer the President is making to country after he recently donated 2 Billion worth buckets and other kits nationwide.
