Gambia: Government Demands Transparent and Credible Investigation of Death of Its Citizen in US

The government of Gambia has called on the United States-US to carry out transparent and credible investigation into death of his citizen, Momodou Lamin Sisay who died in Atlanta city on May 29th, 2020.

According to Reports the victim was reportedly shot death by police officer following a serious chase after his car.

Gambia’s Foreign Minister in the statement indicated that they are demanding for transparent and credible investigation in the case of Momodou Sisay. He was 39-years-old.

Sisay had refused to stop his car when the officers pulled him over for violation of license, the investigation from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation-GBI revealed.

However after a long chase he stopped but pointed a gun and fired at the officers. This led to an intense battle of gunfire between them and he died in place.

Many have argued that no matter the situation he was not supposed to have fired at the officers. They equally argue that he only died because the police officers were defending themselves as he was the first to attack.
