After having been criticized for his attitude towards coronavirus, Tanzanian president John Magufuli has once more declared that only God will help his country.

It can be recalled that the president’s trust and total dependence on God for a solution was inflamed when he carried out tests on fruits and animals and they came back positive. He had been urging his compatriots to pray but this results further triggered fear as he doubts the potentiality of test kits.

At the outbreak of the pandemic, President Magufuli has made clear that the virus was powerless in the face of the Body of Christ. He had discouraged every other gathering as the world did but refused to close churches.

To the president, if the solution were to be founded, it will be in God through worship and praise in His own house. He therefore could not stop people from going to the church which is their only hope amid the crisis.

According to president Magufuli, at the end of the crisis, they will be the source of livelihood to other East African countries that are presently on lockdown.

Speaking during a service in the church he said, “There is not going to be any such thing as lockdown in Tanzania, God will help us. We need to work hard, once the other East African are done with their lockdown, they will come to us, and we shall still help them with food, we will not against discriminate them,” The president indicated.

He equally indicated as prove that there is hope, hospitals are recording fewer cases and recording recoveries.

Meanwhile, the United States Embassy in Tanzania has criticized and challenged the president’s approach to the life-threatening global health crisis. According to the embassy, the President is painting a different and lighter picture of how the pandemic is occurring in Tanzania. They hold that it is worse than they admit.

“Despite limited official reports, all evidence points to exponential growth of the epidemic in Dar and other locations in Tanzania.” The embassy revealed.

Meantime report by the World Health Organization-WHO shows that presently there are 509 cases of infection, 183 recoveries, and 21 deaths in Tanzania.
