AfDB Disburses XAF26 billion for the Interconnecting Logone Bridge between Cameroon to Chad

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank–AfDB have approved a grant of XAF26.2 billion for the construction of a bridge over the Logone River which will connect Yagoua  in Cameroon to Bongor  in Chad.

LOGONE BRIDGE

This grants as stipulated in a report by the project management team to the Bank's Board, the funds will not only be used to co-finance the construction of the bridge but equally the connecting roads as well as the feasibility studies.

The expectations are that this bridge will promote bilateral and sub-regional integration as well as cross-border trades. It will also be expected to reinforce the socio-cultural ties between Cameroon and Chad.

LOGONE BRIDGE

The report stated, ‘Specifically, the project aims to promote inter-state trade, particularly between Cameroon and Chad, reduce travel time and related transport costs, and improve access to basic services for people living in neighboring localities,".

LAGONE BRIDGE

The said construction work seconds the between the two countries after the Nguéli Bridge, which connects Kousseri in Cameroon to Ndjamena in Chad. They have all have been entrusted to the Razel Cameroun-Razel Fayat-Sotcocog consortium. Its completion is expected in a year and a month.
