Jack Ma’s COVID-19 Preventive Supplies’ Donation Undergoes Distribution in African

On Monday, March 23rd, 2020 Ethiopia and Rwanda receives first batch of Coronavirus test kits and other prevention material which Jack Ma, the Chinese billionaire donated to 54 African countries.

It was two weeks ago after the pandemic has gradually taken on many countries that, Ma announced to help the continent in its fight against the new COVID-19 a total of 1.1million testing kits, six million masks and 60,000 protective suits and face shields.

He revealed that the Jack Ma Foundation will work with local medical institutions across the African continent via online training materials for the killer virus clinical treatment.

 At his announcement he said “the world cannot afford the unthinkable consequences of Coronavirus in Africa.”

Other areas across the world that Ma has also supported with preventive supplies include America, Italy, and some parts of Asia and Latin America.

Ma said “now it is as if we were all living in the same forest of fire. As members of the global community, it will be irresponsible of us to sit on the fence, panic, ignore facts, or fail to act. We need to take action now.”

Having received the gifts President Paul Kagame on behalf of his citizens took to social media and tweeted his gratitude to Jack Ma and his foundation for the kits to prevent the spread of the deadly pandemic.


Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopian prime minister is the overseer of the distribution of these supplies to other African countries. On his tweet, he revealed the quantity of the first consignment received in Addis Ababa on Sunday March 22nd on behalf of the continent.

Meantime a total of 43 countries across Africa has reported cases of COVID-19 which has influenced implementation of measures like border closure and restriction to movements.

Meanwhile, South Africa is reported one of the most affected African country with over 402 cases of coronavirus.
