Possible Environmental Impacts of a Massive tank Explosion in the SONARA oil Refining Company

SONARA also known as Société Nationale de Raffinage in French owns and operates crude oil refinery in Cameroon. Founded in 1973, the company produces butane, gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, fuel oil and distillate. With a capacity of over two million tons a year, their products are consumed in the national market and exported to international markets. The Limbe refinery has a theoretical capacity of 2,100,000 tonnes per year.

According to a communiqué dated June 1, 2019 and signed by Jean Paul Simo Njounou the General Manager of Cameroon’s National oil Refinery known in its French acronym as SONARA, there occurred an explosion followed by a fire incident on the night breaking Saturday June 1 at the Oil Refinery in Limbe.

'Is “Access to Information” Not a Human Right?' is the subject of Barrister Jean Atabong Fomeni's open letter to the Chairman of the National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms (NCHRF), Dr. Chemuta Divine BANDA. In the letter, the young lawyer accuses the NCHRF of breach of Article 1(3) of the Cameroon constitution that grants equal status to English and French as official languages. The delicious fufu and Eru is a specialty of the Bayang of Manyu division in the Southwest region of Cameroon. The dish, Fufu and Eru, has gained national popularity. Indeed, it is one of the most available and consumed meals at public ceremonies and restaurants. The vegetable, Eru leaf, can be eaten raw, shredded and added to soup, stews, porridge’s, and fish or meat dishes.
